Math Lab Advanced Math

Description:

This course(using teacher-generated material and hands-on learning aids) is specifically designed for students who may not have yet mastered the skills for Core Plus I or Integrated Math. This course will help prepare students to use math in real life and enroll in a higher levle math course. Math lab emphasizes computation of whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and percents. Students will be exposed to various occupations and how math is used in these occupations. Students will be assessed on the basis of homework problems, quizzes, tests, and portfolios.

Description:

Advanced Math covers algebraic concepts in more detail, including working with polynomial functions, quadratic functions, exponential functions and logarithmic functions. The course reviews trigonometric functions and there inverses, equating radians to degrees, solving trig equations and using trigonometry to solve problems. A unit of probability and combinations will also be included. Assessments will include homework problems, quizzes, tests, and projects

Integrated Math I Inegrated Math II

Description:

In this course students will use mental arithmatic, paper and pencil, calulator and computer in arithmatic computations. They will explore whole numbeers, decimals, fractions, and integers. They will use concrete, formal, and informal strategies to problem-solve. An introduction to algebraic equations and inequalities, measurement, geometry and exploring statistical data will also be a part of this class. These concepts will be assessed through homework, quizzes, tests, projects, and portfolio problems. The book that will be used is "Math Matters, an integrated approach" by South-Western

Description:

This course (using the text "Math Matters," by South-Western) will include a review of basic operations using whole numbers, decimals, fractions, and percents, as well as a deeper look into algebra, geometry, and statistics. Probability and functions will also be explored. Students will be assessed on the basis of homework, quizzes, tests, and portfolios.

Core Plus I Introduction to Calculus

Description:

This course is a standards-based, integrated approach to mathematics. It will include units in patterns of data, patterns of change, patterns in space, linear models, graphic models, exponential models, and, if time permits, simulation models. The textbook "Core Plus I" published by Everyday Learning will be used. This course is first in a series that will prepared students for entrance to college.

Description:

This course (using the text "Calculus and analytic geometry" by McGraw Hill and supplemental worksheets) begins by completing the study trigonometry, limits, continuity, derivatives and there applications, and curve plotting are covered. Students will use graphics calculators to explore concepts. Assessments will include homework problems, quizzes, tests, and portfolios.

Core Plus II AP Calculus

Description:

This course is a standards-based, integrated approach to mathematics. It will include units in Matrix models, patterns of location, shape and size, patterns of association, power models, networks, geometric form and its function and if time premits, patterns in change. The textbook "Core Plus II" published by Everyday Learning will be used. This course is second in a series that will prepared students for entrance to college.
