EFMHS Guide to

Financial Aid

It all begins with the FAFSA: The Free Application for Federal Student Aid
All students attending a 2 or 4-year college/university need to file the FAFSA. Many Canadian universities are now requiring FAFSA information to determine financial aid as well. Both student and parent financial information is required to compete the FAFSA. This application must be filed by your college deadline (it varies from school to school) and cannot be filed until after January 1. The FAFSA is the basis for any type of aid a college will give a student. The FAFSA must be filed each year a student is in college. Most FAFSA forms are completed online, however a “hard copy” can be ordered through the guidance office if needed. You can apply online at: www.fafsa.ed.gov. To apply online you will need a PIN number. This becomes your electronic signature. You may request a PIN at www.pin.ed.gov

If you access a site that asks for money, you are in the wrong place.
